Sometimes Kicksville likes to take a break from words. Words are a fine tool, but occasionally they’re used to deceive, obfuscate or confuse. And words often have more than one meaning, which can be vexing. The word “sanction” for instance. If you sanction something, generally the idea is that you’re approving it. But apply it to geopolitics, and it turns into the opposite.
That’s why Kicksville decided to give you, Gentle Listener, a break from that thorny bramble with a groovy instrumental number.
However, your immediate reaction to hearing this song may well be: “Wait a minute: This tune is called Largo, meaning 'slow,' AND YET THE PIECE IS MID-TEMPO. Just what are you trying to pull, Good Sirs?”
Kicksville would advise you to calm down, take a deep breath, and maybe fix yourself a cup of, um, [cough cough] "herbal" tea. For you see, the reason Largo is the title is because a Largo synthesizer provided the rumbly beginnings of the song. If you feel deceived, blame Waldorf, not Kicksville.
Besides, if you really want Largo to sound largo (the tempo marking), try this: Speed up your brain, and then you will PERCEIVE the tempo to be slower in relation to your racing mind. Give it a try! It may give you a whole new outlook, and Kicksville sanctions this.
