Here’s a number that shows the jauntier side of Kicksville! A lively shuffle, it combines such themes as water, blood and home. I ask, who at some juncture, hasn’t enjoyed water? Who hasn’t felt blood coursing through one’s veins? And who has never needed help finding one’s way home?
Okay, granted, anyone whose functioning as an organism doesn’t involve blood or water is not a vertebrate and probably doesn’t listen to much music.
HOWEVER, befitting the third question, Andy Ewen's lyrics speak to a universal experience, just like the lyrics of a certain Homer. Not Homer Simpson or Winslow Homer, mind you, just Homer (like how Cher is just Cher). Who needed more help finding his way home than Homer’s Odysseus? The point is, Gentle Reader, we all need help from time to time. Kicksville can help. Or at least remind you that you may need help. Or, failing that, entertain you with a few minutes of excellent singing and the dynamic playing of instruments.
lyrics
I'm going down, down, down, down
I'm going where I've been
You know that one's going places
but I'm going nowhere but in
Now it's water now it's blood
I'm perched on a round white stone
This fool's pool is a remarkable tool
Yeah, help me find my way home
I'm walking
between the shadow and the fear
I'm walking after midnight
I'm walking in the moonlight
I'm more
I'm a midnight creep
I'm walking on the water
with the farmer and his daughter
I'm walking down Canal Street
knocking at every door
I'm going down, down, down, down
Now it's water now it's blood
I'm perched on a round white stone
This fool's pool is a remarkable tool
Yeah, help me find my way home
I'm going down in the valley where my love it grows
I'm going down the place where the babies' toes grow
I'm going down.....
I'm riding on the water with the hostesses...the airline ghostesses....
The nurse she cried god save his soul
and all I said was jelly roll
and all I cried was jelly roll
